Wandering where art, technology, and nature intertwine
Professional Background
I work at the intersection of art, technology, and nature, engineering multimedia solutions that bridge digital infrastructure with tangible utility. I transform code into context, crafting interactive experiences and tools designed to spark deep engagement and generate real-world impact.
Since earning my Bachelor of Arts in Interactive Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago in 2015, I have specialized in web design, development, and project management via Agile methodologies. These perspectives—forged both behind the screen and in the field—inform the core themes of my work. My career spans the public sector at the Forest Preserves of Cook County and the private sector at Hydro, Inc., complemented by freelance engagements for Cognizant, Clovis, Inc., and Century 21 S.G.R., as well as contributions to startups like The Sick Muse and The Lyric Exchange.
Artistic Practice
My visual art captures the transience of everyday life and the natural world through an impressionistic lens. Using pigmented India ink brush pens on pure cotton paper, I blend urban sketching with nature journaling to create archival, layered narratives where observation meets imagination—a dialogue between light, shadow, and personal interpretation.
In my Healing Landscapes series, I apply the philosophy of wabi-sabi to ecological restoration. By reclaiming invasive buckthorn, I transform environmental waste into an organic canvas for woodland recovery. I allow the wood’s knots, cracks, and weathered flaws to dictate my composition—a deliberate metaphor for the resilience of the land. My brush follows the rhythmic grain, leaning into these imperfections to advocate for the return of the native wild. My work has been exhibited at Andersonville Galleria, Art City, Oak Park Art League, and the Trailside Museum of Natural History.
Music & Composition
Under the solo moniker alixplox, I compose layered synthwave using a curated blend of analog hardware and contemporary production. My EPs—Cosmic Cruise (2022), Hadal Rain (2022), and Offworlds (2021)—explore an atmospheric retro-futurism featured on indie game soundtracks and the Gabbin' & Games podcast hosted by David Jaffe, the creative mind behind both the God of War and Twisted Metal series.
In my musical work, I seek to find the human pulse within electronic structures, fusing vintage character with modern definition. I bring this same creative DNA to the band Circus in the Sea as a co-writer, performer, and producer. Our discography, including the albums Sea-Sides (2026) and Holly the Spectre (2018), features an ethereal dreampop texture of synthesizers and melodic vocals. We have shared the stage with local and national acts at iconic Chicago venues including Subterranean, Beat Kitchen, and The Hideout.
