Alexander Stockdale
Interactive arts and media professional, wandering the wilderness where art and technology intertwine.
Work Experience
My career follows an interdisciplinary path—one that weaves together digital innovation, traditional media, and creative collaboration. With a foundation in computer science and a B.A. in Interactive Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago (2015), I’ve cultivated a dynamic practice in web design and development. Over time, I’ve expanded my toolkit through Illinois BIS’s Leadership Development for Manufacturers (2018) and Sandler’s Sales Foundations (2020), sharpening my communication, project management, and Agile/Lean methodology skills.
Whether designing interactive experiences or managing complex digital projects, I translate ideas into thoughtful, impactful solutions. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate across diverse industries with organizations like the Forest Preserves of Cook County, The Sick Muse, Hydro, Inc., Cognizant, Clovis, Inc., The Lyric Exchange, and Century 21 S.G.R.
Visual Art
In parallel, I’ve nurtured a fine art practice—AlxStockdaleArt—rooted in a lifelong love of drawing and the natural world. My hand-drawn flora and fauna studies—crafted using vivid Copic markers on sustainably sourced wood panels—explore the interaction between pigment and organic wood grain. Many of these compositions are inspired by my travels and work in nature conservation.
Sustainability plays a central role in my process: I use refillable markers and FSC-certified wood panels, free from formaldehyde and harmful VOCs. My work has been featured in exhibitions including the Harvest Market Pop-Up (Oak Park Art League, 2024) and the EXPO + OPAL Members Show (Oak Park Art League, 2025).
Music
I also explore sonic landscapes under the alias alixplox. My solo releases—Cosmic Cruise (2022), Hadal Rain (2022), and Offworlds (2021)—blend ambient textures and experimental soundscapes. As a co-writer, producer, and performer in the band Circus in the Sea, I’ve contributed to albums such as Holly the Spectre (2018) and Incognito (2015).
Collaboration has always been at the heart of my creative process. I’ve been fortunate to work with a wide range of artists and collaborators, including Axel “The Creature” Schulze, Charlie Veirbeiren, Tia Kristia, Amy Casey, David Jaffe, Edgar Decay, Kyle Mattimore, and Teza Belmond.
Inquiries & Commissions
Whether through code, canvas, or sound, I strive to forge connections, spark curiosity, and inspire discovery. I welcome inquiries for commissions, exhibitions, or collaborative projects—and I’m always open to exploring new creative terrain.
